Norwich City supporters were ‘sorry’ to see Abu Kamara leave for Hull City, says Chris Sutton
Former Norwich City rplayer Chris Sutton believes a lot of their supporters were ‘sorry’ to see Abu Kamara leave for Hull City in the last transfer window.
Norwich City sold the winger to their fellow Championship side in late August.
Kamara, 21, received a negative reception from sections of the Canaries’ fanbase last Saturday as the Tigers lost 4-0 at Carrow Road.
Speaking on the 1904 Club podcast, Sutton has said: “He’s a talented player. He got a bit of stick at the weekend. I think Shane Duffy went over to him after the game and tried to give him a bit of a lift because that has happened to him, he has moved clubs and taken a bit of stick from the previous club’s fanbase.
“I think he’s got a really good football brain. He’s a bright star. The anger (for Norwich City) was that they were losing a really talented player. Norwich’s history has been about developing young players and giving them the opportunity. I think a lot of Norwich City fans were really sorry to see him leave, hence the reaction at the weekend. It’s (now) about nurturing him at Hull City and developing him.”
Hull City move so far
Hull City have helped the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Jaden Philogene and Keane Lewis-Potter make the step up to the Premier League over recent years and will hope Kamara can follow in their footsteps.
He was very much a signing for the future for the Tigers and they are planning to develop him over the next couple of years.
Kamara has had to bide his time for opportunities under Tim Walter so far.
He faces competition from the likes of Liam Millar, Mohamed Belloumi and Abdulkadir Omur for his position.
The youngster has played three times for the East Yorkshire outfit.
He rose up through the academy ranks at Norwich City and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.
Kamara played six times for their first-team and chipped in with one goal.
He was loaned out to Portsmouth in the last campaign and found the net on 10 occasions to help them win the League One title.
What now?
Kamara needs time to find his feet at Hull City and looked bright when he came on against Norwich City last time out.
The Tigers are back in action after the international break with a home clash against Sunderland. Meanwhile, the Canaries face Stoke City away.
