Amad Diallo has been one of Manchester United’s standout players at the start of the 2024/25 seasonThe 22-year-old winger has had to remain patient after signing for the Red Devils for £19m back in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Amad Diallo struggled for first-team minutes after he first joined and he went out on loan to Rangers and Sunderland in an attempt to prove himself.
After Amad enjoyed an excellent pre-season this summer, the club put their faith in him to shine this season after parting ways with Jadon Sancho to push him further up the pecking order.
Erik ten Hag started Amad in the opening two league matches, and he made a mistake by leaving him out of the lineup against Liverpool.
Amad Diallo contract situation
Amad is finally enjoying a breakout season at the club and United look set to reward his blistering start with a new contract.
He has only one year remaining on his current deal, although United do hold an option to extend that for a further 12 months. Ideally, though, United would like a new contract sorted before that’s even considered.
Manchester Evening News report that United are set to offer Amad a long-term deal over the coming months, and Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on the contract situation.
Via CaughtOffside, Romano said: “Manchester United fans have also been asking me about an important contract situation involving young winger Amad Diallo.
“A new deal will be discussed at the right moment. There is no pressure, there is a great feeling between United and Amad. At United they love him, while Amad is also very happy with his game time now.”
Erik ten Hag has solved Amad Diallo’s biggest concern
After failing to break into the first team during his first couple years at the club, there were a few concerns that Amad would never be given a fair chance to impress and would be sold on at a loss.
But Ten Hag – and the club’s hierarchy – have put their faith in Amad this season and he is quickly justifying their decision.
Amad was only given 471 minutes of first-team action across all competitions last season, most of which came towards the end of the Premier League season.
He has already played 327 minutes so far this campaign and after only making a six-minute cameo in United’s stunning 7-0 win over Barnsley he should be fresh and raring to go when United return to action against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
Despite being in the final year of his deal, it seems that Amad is more than happy with his new role at the club – a new contract should be no issue.
