Dak Prescott Made the Strangest NFL History in Cowboys’ Week 5 Win Over Steelers
A memorable Week 5 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday was one play from being a night to forget for quarterback Dak Prescott. The Cowboys’ quarterback finished the night as the hero, leading a 15-play, 70-yard drive and throwing the game-winning touchdown pass on 4th-and-goal with 20 seconds remaining. But two red zone turnovers (one fumble, one interception) and a second interception nearly cost the Cowboys a victory. Prescott also made unique NFL history during his up-and-down primetime performance. This was primarily thanks to an hour and 25-minute weather delay before kickoff, resulting in the game starting at 9:45 p.m. ET.
In one of the most unique NFL moments, Prescott did something no player has ever done and likely won’t any time soon. He became the first player in NFL history to throw a touchdown pass and an interception on two different days in the same game.
Prescott would obviously like to forget the interception aspect of the historical moment. But at least he’ll remember the night as a victory and one capped off with a game-winning touchdown pass. Prescott’s two touchdown passes also came in crucial moments for the Cowboys. The first was early in the fourth quarter, giving Dallas the lead, and the second proved to be the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining.
CeeDee Lamb had a message for Dak Prescott on the Dallas Cowboys’ sideline Sunday night that had fans wondering what was said.
Dallas was leading the Pittsburgh Steelers 6-3 late in the second quarter at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Cowboys had a 2nd-and-4 at the Pittsburgh 15, and Prescott threw toward the end zone for Lamb. The pass was thrown into coverage, and Donte Jackson intercepted the pass.
The teams went into halftime with Dallas leading 6-3.
During the third quarter, NBC showed a video of Lamb saying something to Prescott on the sidelines after the interception. Though they had no idea what was said, announcers Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth made it out to be a bad thing.
“Doesn’t look good,” Collinsworth said of the exchange.
Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico weigh in on a conversation CeeDee Lamb had with Dak Prescott after a bad interception.
Collinsworth: I’ll let you read your own lips. At Dak. Dak doesn’t react at all. Doesn’t look good.
Tirico: Not a bit. Not a bit. pic.twitter.com/6kTAygmljS

Though Tirico and Collinsworth made it seem like the exchange was a negative one, some other people concluded that nothing bad was going on. One Cowboys reporter believes Lamb was saying “jump ball,” like he was telling Prescott to throw him a jump ball into the end zone next time.
CeeDee Lamb clearly says jump ball….there is no controversy here. There is no division and no acrimony as the broadcast tried to make it https://t.co/PqPBSnj65p

Prescott went 29/42 for 352 yards with 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and a lost fumble in the game. He came through in the end and delivered a winning touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert with 20 seconds left. Lamb finished with 5 catches for 62 yards on 9 targets.
