Tim Walter says his team were punished for “easy mistakes” and missed a clinical edge in the 4-0 defeat at Norwich City.
Marcelino Núñez, Josh Sargent, who also missed a penalty, Kaide Gordon and Borja Sainz scored the Canaries’ goals as the Tigers were comprehensively beaten at Carrow Road.
“First of all, congrats to the other side, said Walter. “They deserved to win because we did too many easy mistakes.
“We lost the ball or we didn’t win the duels. We had the ball that often but we lost it easy and they scored.
“They were more clinical than we were in the offensive phase. They were more sharp and more straight in the defensive phase. It could have been different.
“They are a really good team. Maybe they are more far (along) than we are. We didn’t take (advantage of) the mistakes from them. It was the difference.
“I would rather lose one time 4-0 than four times 1-0. We have to accept it for the day.
“We tried all the time to score a goal and that’s a really good attitude from my team. They tried it all the time but unfortunately we didn’t score.
“They deserved to win because they were more clinical than we were.”
Abdüş Ömür missed the game through injury, with Walter revealing: “It’s a muscle injury. He felt it the last few days and the last few weeks and now he said he can’t strike, so we left him at home.”
