Tottenham Hotspur is not anticipated to be heavily involved in transfer activities on the final day of the transfer window, according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge. After a series of key acquisitions earlier in the summer, the North London club appears satisfied with the current composition of their squad and is unlikely to pursue significant additions before the window closes.
Throughout the transfer window, Tottenham has successfully reinforced their team by bringing in young talent and experienced players. Notable signings include French winger Wilson Odobert, promising midfielder Archie Gray, versatile Swedish playmaker Lucas Bergvall, and seasoned striker Dominic Solanke. These acquisitions have largely addressed the club’s primary objectives, particularly in bolstering their attacking lineup—a key priority for manager Ange Postecoglou.
The acquisition of Dominic Solanke has been a crucial part of Tottenham’s strategy, fulfilling Postecoglou’s need for a reliable, out-and-out striker to lead the line. Solanke’s arrival is expected to significantly enhance Tottenham’s attacking potency, providing a focal point in the forward line. Additionally, the signing of Wilson Odobert adds a dynamic, youthful presence on the wings, offering the squad greater depth and flexibility in wide areas.
Despite these additions, Bridge notes that while it’s always possible for Tottenham to make a last-minute move, the likelihood is low. In a conversation with GiveMeSport, Bridge commented:
“I think with Tottenham, you never say never. But my understanding is not to expect a busy deadline day in terms of incomings. They wanted an out-and-out striker, Postecoglou wanted Solanke, they got Solanke. I think they’ve been really impressive. What they’ve seen of Archie Gray so far, we also know that Odobert came out of nowhere, but he’s another option. He gives Spurs something a little bit different in the wide areas.”
While the club’s incoming transfer activity may be winding down, Tottenham’s focus for the remainder of the window appears to be on outgoing transfers. The club is reportedly looking to finalize moves for players like Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso, who could be on their way out before the deadline.
Tottenham’s strategy in the transfer market reflects a broader confidence in the squad they’ve assembled, which has already shown promise early in the season. After starting the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Leicester City, Tottenham responded emphatically with a 4-0 victory over Everton, demonstrating the potential of their new signings.
As the club heads into their final fixture before the international break—a matchup against Newcastle United on Sunday—Tottenham will be aiming to continue their strong start to the season. With the transfer window coming to a close, the emphasis will likely shift from squad building to performance on the pitch, as Postecoglou seeks to maintain momentum in the early stages of his tenure at the club.
