Tottenham Hotspur have had a busy transfer window with five new players signed by the North London club this summer. Dominic Solanke is the headline addition with the striker arriving for a club-record fee from Bournemouth.
Teenage midfield duo Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall also arrived this summer, with the former signed in a deal worth around £40 million.
Wilson Odobert was signed from Burnley and sounds like a huge prospect, meanwhile, Min-Hyuk Yang was signed from Gangwon FC.
Yang is being tipped as the heir to Heung-min Son’s throne in South Korea and the Tottenham captain has had some big praise for the youngster.
Heung-min Son claims Min-Hyuk Yang will be better than him
Son believes that Yang will eventually become better than him with the 18-year-old enjoying an incredible breakout season in the K-League.
Yang was named K-League Player of the Month for July and his team Gangwon FC are currently at the top of the league and on the verge of their first title. In January, once the K-League season is over, the winger is due to join Spurs.
Son told Football Focus: “He’s quite a young player, he’s been very bright in his first season in the K-League, so he’s doing amazingly for his first year. I’m looking forward to him coming and playing here.”
“Probably he will be better than me, I hope every young player becomes better than me as soon as possible and then Korean football gets better and better.”
Yang Min-Hyeok receives first South Korean call-up
Yang has just been handed his first national team call-up where South Korea face World Cup 2026 qualifying matches against Palestine and Oman.
Son is also part of Hong Myung-bo’s first squad. Hong has just replaced Jurgen Klinsmann who had a very disappointing Asian Cup 2023 campaign.
Speaking on August 26, the South Korean head coach told Reuters: “I think he [Yang] has done enough this season to deserve a spot on the national team.
“His body of work for this season speaks for itself, and I think this was the right time to give him this opportunity.
“A lot of people have high expectations of him, and I hope he can do some good things for us here. And it’s up to him to keep earning these chances.”
