Former Five-Star Leaves LSU’s Kim Mulkey for Rival SEC Program

Kim Mulkey has had plenty of success as a women’s college basketball coach. After successful stops at Louisiana Tech and Baylor, she led the LSU Tigers to an NCAA Tournament title.

While they have not won the title in the last two seasons, they have reached the Elite Eight for three straight seasons. The 2024-25 team finished with a 31-6 record, which was third in the SEC.

But not everything is roses for the Tigers. Despite all the success, Mulkey certainly is not immune to the transfer portal sweeping the college basketball scene by storm.

Earlier this spring, she was notified of a significant player heading into the transfer. On Wednesday, she found the news of this player heading to a school within the SEC.

Taila Goodman of On3 Sports posted the following Wednesday evening: BREAKING: LSU transfer Jersey Wolfenbarger has committed to Tennessee.”

This will be Wolfenbarger’s third collegiate program, as she began her career at Arkansas. She played in 65 games there and scored a total of 363 points.

She was a highly regarded, five-star recruit for the Razorbacks, hailing from Fort Smith, Arkansas. After two seasons with Arkansas, she chose to transfer and play for Coach Mulkey and the Tigers.

Last season with LSU, Wolfenbarger appeared in all 37 games and started nine. She averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She recorded two double-doubles, including a standout performance against Louisiana-Lafayette, where she scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
