The South Carolina Gamecocks are set to honor their rich athletic legacy with a special Legends Weekend on March 1, 2025. This event will coincide with the men’s basketball team’s home game against the Arkansas Razorbacks at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. The Gamecocks are aiming for a historic third consecutive victory over Arkansas, a first in program history
During halftime, the university will celebrate the achievements of former players, coaches, and staff who have significantly contributed to the Gamecock legacy. A private reception at Carolina Coliseum is scheduled for the evening prior to the game, with an additional postgame gathering in the McGuire Club .
In addition to this event, the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame will induct two legendary Gamecocks in 2025. Landon Powell, a former catcher who had a ten-year professional career, including three at the Major League Baseball level, and Shannon Johnson, a standout guard who is the only USC player ever to average 20 points in three separate seasons and scored a school record 24.7 points per game as a senior
These celebrations reflect the university’s commitment to honoring its athletic history and the individuals who have contributed to its success.
