Luigi Capuano Aims for Transfer Market Success as Dundee United CEO Hails Fans’ Contribution

Dundee United CEO Luigi Capuano has set his sights on making the club transfer market maestros as he reflected on their efforts in the challenging Scottish Championship season. After a tough campaign in the second tier, which saw the Terrors secure promotion back to the Premiership, Capuano praised the club’s resilience and the instrumental role played by the passionate Dundee United supporters.

Capuano, who took over as CEO in the summer of 2023, acknowledged the difficulties faced by the club throughout the season, but he was confident in how they managed the circumstances. United’s strong second half of the campaign was key to their promotion bid, and Capuano noted the team’s ability to perform under pressure, securing vital wins when needed.

“It was a difficult season in many ways, but we navigated it well. The players and staff showed great resilience,” Capuano said. “There were challenges on and off the pitch, but we were able to maintain focus and keep moving forward. Achieving promotion was the ultimate goal, and we’re delighted to be back where we belong in the Premiership.”

One of Capuano’s key objectives moving forward is to enhance the club’s transfer strategy. With Dundee United back in the top flight, the CEO is focused on ensuring the club operates effectively in the transfer market, both in terms of recruitment and player development. Capuano believes this will be vital in maintaining their Premiership status and competing against some of Scotland’s top clubs.

“The transfer market is crucial for us, and we want to be active, smart, and strategic,” Capuano explained. “Our aim is to be maestros in this area, bringing in the right players who can make a difference on the pitch and help us push forward. We’ll be working closely with the manager and scouting team to ensure we strengthen where needed.”

Capuano also took the opportunity to praise the role of Dundee United fans, highlighting their unwavering support throughout a challenging year. The fans have been “instrumental” in maintaining the team’s spirit, particularly during tough patches in the season. Their passion and commitment, Capuano added, were key to helping the team through difficult moments.

“Without the fans, none of this would be possible,” he said. “Their support is invaluable, and we will continue working hard to give them a team they can be proud of.”

With a new season in the Premiership on the horizon, Capuano and Dundee United are ready to tackle the challenges ahead, with a focus on strengthening their squad and continuing the momentum from their successful promotion campaign.
